A North Texas town beat every other Texas city in U.S. News & World Report’s new Best Places to Live ranking.
Flower Mound ranked No. 3 nationwide and No. 1 in Texas in the publication’s 2026-2027 list, trailing only Carmel and Fishers, Indiana.
U.S. News ranked 250 places based on value, desirability, job market, and quality of life.
Flower Mound earned a 7.1 overall score. The ranking listed the Denton County town with a population of 77,576, an average commute of 26 minutes, a median home value of $553,334, a median monthly rent of $1,822, and a median household income of $167,151.
Frisco also landed in the national top 10, ranking No. 9 overall. U.S. News listed Frisco with a population of 229,028, an average commute of 26 minutes, a median home value of $627,426, a median monthly rent of $1,756, and a median household income of $152,749.
Texas claimed four of the top 10 spots. Leander ranked No. 8, Frisco ranked No. 9, and Sugar Land ranked No. 10.
North Texas continued to show up near the top of the list. McKinney ranked No. 17, Allen ranked No. 23, Mansfield ranked No. 25, and Carrollton ranked No. 33.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Flower Mound also landed on Livability’s 2025 list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in the United States, with the publication citing the town’s schools, safety, and suburban location near the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Frisco’s top-10 finish follows a separate relocation report that projected the city would post one of the strongest move-in ratios in the country, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Flower Mound officials celebrated the latest ranking after U.S. News released the list.
“Flower Mound is the #3 best place to live in the country!” the town said in an announcement. “In Texas, Flower Mound earned the #1 spot.”
