Four students were injured Thursday evening after a band tower collapsed at Centennial High School in Frisco, according to reports citing local officials.

Police officers and firefighters responded to the school around 6:45 p.m. after the structure collapsed, according to Sgt. Ryan Thomas, a Frisco Police Department spokesperson.

The tower was about 30 feet tall, according to officials.

The collapse happened while students were on the structure. Two students were temporarily trapped underneath the metal tower and were quickly removed by first responders, Thomas said.

The students were conscious, and their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Frisco ISD said the district’s maintenance department secured the scene by installing an orange safety fence around the fallen structure.

The district said maintenance crews will dismantle the tower and asked community members to avoid the area.

Officials have not publicly released the identities of the students or additional details about the extent of their injuries.
