Keller mayoral candidate Tere “Tag” Green and his company are facing an unsatisfied $220,000 civil judgment after a Dallas County lawsuit alleged they misappropriated housing assistance payments tied to several rental properties. Court records also show Green failed to appear for a court-ordered post-judgment deposition earlier this month.
Green, a former Keller City Council member now seeking the city’s top elected office, was named, along with his company, Time for Real Change, LLC, in a civil suit filed in 2023 by BAF 2, LLC, in Dallas County’s 193rd Judicial District Court. The case is listed as Cause No. DC-23-04188.
The Underlying Dispute
According to the plaintiff’s Second Amended Petition, BAF 2, LLC purchased nine residential properties in Dallas County from 13346, L.C., in December 2020 for $2.06 million. The properties were generating income partly through housing assistance payments from the Dallas Housing Authority (DHA) and the Mesquite Housing Division (MHD), both of which administer voucher programs funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
BAF 2 claimed it never received those housing payments. According to the petition, DHA and MHD advised that the payments were being sent to the previous owner and then to Time for Real Change, LLC, Green’s company, even after the company’s management role ended in December 2020.
BAF 2 alleged that Green and his company continued receiving the payments without authorization and ignored demands to return the money, prompting the lawsuit.
Agreed Judgment and Abstract Filed
Court records show BAF 2 recovered judgment against Green and Time for Real Change, LLC, jointly and severally, on February 21, 2025, for $220,000, plus post-judgment interest at 5% annually.
The agreed final judgment states that BAF 2 was entitled to final judgment on claims against Green and Time for Real Change, LLC, including misappropriation, violations of the Texas Theft Liability Act, conversion, unjust enrichment, money had and received, alter ego, and civil conspiracy.
On March 26, 2025, the Dallas County District Clerk certified an abstract of judgment. An abstract of judgment can create a lien against a judgment debtor’s nonexempt real property in the county where it is recorded.
Missed Deposition and Ongoing Sanctions
Court records reviewed by The Dallas Express did not show a satisfaction or release of judgment as of publication.
On March 20, 2026, the court granted the plaintiff’s motion to compel and for sanctions, ordering Green and Time for Real Change to appear for a post-judgment deposition before April 15, 2026, and requiring them to pay $1,000 in attorneys’ fees by that same date.
The order also stated that if the defendants did not appear for deposition as ordered, they “shall be fined $500 per day.”
A Certificate of Nonappearance recorded on April 9, 2026, states that Green had not appeared for the deposition by 1:18 p.m. at the plaintiff’s attorney’s office in Addison. The filing says notice was sent by email and certified mail, with the certified mail delivered to an individual at Green’s Keller address on March 27, 2026.
Green appeared at a public mayoral debate the evening before the scheduled deposition.
During the nonappearance record, BAF 2 attorney David Vassar said the judgment “is currently unsatisfied.”
On April 21, 2026, BAF 2 filed a Second Supplement to the Motion to Compel and for Sanctions and Motion for Contempt and to Show Cause. The filing asked the court to require Green to appear and show cause why he should not be held in contempt for failing to comply with the court’s order.
Green’s Response
At a recent candidate forum, Green addressed the litigation directly.
“Yes, I know they’re pushing papers around town about a civil lawsuit that my company was drawn into,” he said. “Yes, I’ve been told that there’s a hit piece coming out to your mailboxes soon. But those that are doing this, those who murmur in the shadows, those who whisper in ears but never talk to me, or when they do talk to me, twist my words, they don’t have half of the story because they have zero of the evidence. This right here is the agreement. Everything that was done was done to the letter of this agreement, to the letter,” Green said during his speech.
“I have served this community with character integrity for over eight years, and now recognize there are those in our city attempting to assassinate my character,” he added.
The Keller mayoral election is underway.
Green did not respond to The Dallas Express’ request for comment.
