FIFA has revealed the official volunteer uniform for the FIFA World Cup 2026, showcasing a bold design that organizers say reflects the tournament’s energy and diversity across North America.
The uniform, created by adidas, will be worn by nearly 50,000 volunteers supporting operations in 16 host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, per InsideFIFA. Volunteers will assist in 24 different areas, including stadiums, training sites, and FIFA Fan Festival locations.
FIFA said the design incorporates the tournament’s visual identity and a heart-shaped pattern symbolizing volunteers as the “heartbeat” of the event. Bright colors are intended to match the competition’s atmosphere while also making volunteers easy to identify.
The collection includes a range of clothing and accessories designed for comfort and flexibility in varying climates. Items include sneakers, socks, T-shirts, shorts, joggers, a mid-layer jacket, a cap, and a waist bag. Volunteers will be able to mix and match pieces depending on conditions and duties.
A standout feature of the uniform is a set of customizable patches inspired by North America’s varsity jacket tradition. Each volunteer will receive three patches representing their assigned host city, allowing them to personalize their look while highlighting local identity.
“As we unveil the look of our biggest volunteer team yet, we celebrate the unmatched energy and dedication of the volunteers – who will not only help deliver the greatest sporting event on the planet, but will also ensure that every fan, player, and guest is welcomed with warmth and a spirit of joy,” said Heimo Schirgi, chief operating officer for the tournament.
Schirgi added, “Across the 16 Host Cities and beyond, this extraordinary team will create memorable experiences for fans. It is only fitting that they be represented by a vibrant look that reflects the essential role they play, with special elements that honour local identity and a sense of belonging.”
Organizers said the uniform will serve as a unifying symbol for fans traveling between host cities, while also serving as a keepsake for volunteers after the tournament concludes.
Interest in the volunteer program has been strong, with more than one million applications submitted. The selected group includes people aged 18 to over 80, representing a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels.
FIFA said volunteers will play a key role in shaping the fan experience, from assisting visitors to supporting event operations. For many participants, the opportunity to be directly involved in one of the world’s largest sporting events.
Training for volunteers began last month, with participants gathering in host cities for role-specific sessions and meeting fellow team members. In the coming weeks, volunteers are expected to visit local centers to receive their uniforms and final accreditation ahead of the tournament.
