Texas claimed Site Selection magazine’s Governor’s Cup for the 14th consecutive year.

Gov. Greg Abbott marked the achievement during a press conference on Monday. The state earned top honors as the nation’s leading performer in attracting job-creating business locations and expansions, a distinction it has held for 22 years total, the governor’s office announced.

Abbott highlighted Texas’ economic strengths, stating, “There is no state that is better-designed or better-positioned economically now and going forward.”

“When we have so many of those robust local economic development teams working alongside the State of Texas, that is wind at our back to ensure that we will be leading in projects now and going forward. You can see that we are on a trajectory to ensure our economic diversification is going to inoculate us in good times, as well as bad times, to ensure our economy is still going to grow, still create new jobs, prosperity, and opportunities for Texans going forward,” he added.

The state drew more than 1,400 such projects in 2025. Those initiatives represented over $75 billion in capital investment and created more than 42,000 jobs. Texas outpaced the No. 2 state by more than double the project total.

Site Selection Executive Vice President Ron Starner praised the result.

“It is time to start talking about the State of Texas as a dynasty in economic development,” Starner said.

Abbott appeared with Starner, Secretary of State Jane Nelson, Texas Economic Development and Tourism Executive Director Adriana Cruz, and leaders from business, economic development, and communities statewide.

Site Selection, an award-winning magazine, presents the Governor’s Cup each year. The publication focuses on corporate real estate, facility planning, location analysis, and foreign direct investment.

“Texas did not just win the Governor’s cup this time; it obliterated the record book. Congratulations, Governor Abbott – you and your team have earned the Site Selection Governor’s Cup. The dynasty continues,” Starner said.
