President Donald Trump said Sunday that a deal with Iran is complete and that he has authorized the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of the U.S. naval blockade.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The announcement came one day after Trump said the deal was expected Sunday and that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen immediately afterward, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Trump also said the agreement would bring broader regional stability.

“This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region. Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me. The Leaders of the Region have, for the first time, found a President who can help them achieve real Peace. With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!” Trump wrote.

Hormuz Reopening

The Strait of Hormuz has remained central to the conflict because of its role in global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.

Trump’s post signaled that the administration will move to restore maritime traffic through the waterway after weeks of pressure on energy markets and shipping routes.

Business Insider reported Sunday that Iran had not yet publicly acknowledged the deal, while Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who helped mediate the talks, said an official signing ceremony was expected Friday.

The final terms of the agreement had not been fully released as of Sunday afternoon.

Regional Security Questions

The announcement follows a volatile week across the Middle East.

Israel struck more than 70 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon after growing concern that any U.S.-Iran agreement could leave Iranian-backed groups in the region with room to regroup, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Trump had also urged restraint after the Israeli strikes, saying the attacks should not have happened as talks with Iran continued.

If implemented, the deal could mark a major diplomatic turn after months of conflict, oil disruption, and military tension around the Strait of Hormuz.

What Comes Next

Trump’s posts pointed to both an immediate authorization to reopen the strait and a Friday signing tied to mine removal and restored oil flows.

The next test will be whether Iran, regional mediators, shipping operators, and U.S. military officials move in the same direction.

For now, Trump is declaring the deal complete.

“Ships of the World, start your engines,” he wrote. “Let the oil flow!”
