President Donald Trump said Saturday, June 13, that he expects the United States and Iran to sign a deal Sunday, June 14, with the Strait of Hormuz reopening immediately afterward.

Trump made the announcement in a Truth Social post, describing the proposed agreement as the opposite of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran that Trump withdrew from during his first term.

“A WALL TO NO NUCLEAR WEAPON!” Trump wrote, saying Iran “no longer want a Nuclear Weapon” and would not obtain one “either through purchase, development, or any other form of procurement.”

Deal Would Reopen Hormuz

“The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” Trump wrote.

Iran questioned the timeline, saying the signing would not happen immediately but could occur in the coming days, Reuters reported.

The post follows U.S. strikes on Iranian targets after an Army Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

DX reported that U.S. Central Command described the strikes as self-defense and said Trump ordered the action after an Army Apache went down near the Strait of Hormuz. Trump later said the military told him Iranian forces had shot down the aircraft. Two soldiers aboard the aircraft were rescued.

Trump Says No Money Will Change Hands

Trump also said the agreement would not include payments to Iran.

“Unlike Obama’s Hundreds of Billions of Dollars in payments to them, including 1.7 Billion Dollars in green, cold cash, no money will exchange hands,” Trump wrote.

“At the appropriate time, when all is calm,” Trump said, the United States would retrieve, downblend, and destroy what he called the “Nuclear Dust” from Iran.

Trump credited “our beautiful B-2 Bombers and their brilliant pilots” and said the material could be destroyed “whether in Iran, or the United States.”

Trump closed by saying he hoped the process would move “quickly, easily, and smoothly,” while warning that the United States still had what he called “the ultimate alternative.”
