Three hotels in the Dallas area are bringing back the “bubble bar,” an outdoor igloo where patrons can sit, relax, and socialize while taking in views of the night sky.
The clear plastic domes offer guests the ultimate view while keeping them warm from the chilly weather. The trend first came to Texas in 2019 and is now back at three different locations in Dallas and Grapevine.
The Hotel Vin, in downtown Grapevine, will open its bubble bar on Nov. 26. It will feature eight igloos positioned on the hotel’s fourth-floor terrace. Each bubble can accommodate between 6-8 people and comes complete with blankets and heaters.
Patrons can buy one of three options:
- the Happy Hour Bubble package, from 4–5 pm, comes with a bottle of wine and fondue;
- the Two-Hour Bar Bubble package, starting at 5:30 or 8 pm, also includes wine and fondue;
- the Full Dining Bubble option, starting at 5:30 or 8 pm, is a two-hour experience with a three-course meal and wine for $150 per patron, with a minimum of four guests.
Miracle on Commerce at The Adolphus hotel in Dallas has its bubble bars up and running until Jan. 30. The hotel offers two seating times for bubble bars as well as small and large cabins.
Seating starts at either 4 pm or 8 pm, with a choice of three tiers of service. Parties of up to four patrons can choose an igloo or a small cabin. Large cabins are available for groups of up to eight.
The igloos and cabins also come with bottles of wine. There is also a special holiday menu offering that includes festive drinks and small plates to share. Rental costs start at $200 through $400.
The Waterproof Lounge at the Statler Dallas hotel is amping it up a notch. The rooftop winter oasis, located on the 19th floor of the hotel, will feature a “Winterproof” theme this year. Bartenders will be donning ski instructor gear, while the waitresses will be ski bunnies.
Patrons can rent the igloos, called “snow clouds,” for a 2-hour minimum. The igloos will be available to rent at the start of December.
