A buy-one-get-one gift card promotion supporting businesses in Frisco’s historic downtown Rail District will return June 1 through the Yiftee digital gift card app.
Under the program, a shopper who buys a $50 gift card receives a matching $50 Bonus Card, giving the buyer $100 in total spending power, the city announced. The Frisco Community Development Corporation is covering the matching amount along with gift card fees.
The FCDC has put more than $1.1 million into efforts supporting the Rail District, which is home to more than 130 businesses.
“The Rail District is entering an exciting new chapter as construction wraps up and downtown Frisco becomes more walkable, connected and family-friendly than ever before,” said Chad Brubaker, president of the Frisco Community Development Corporation. “The FCDC is proud to support the Gift Card matching program as a way to encourage the community to come back downtown, support local small businesses and enjoy the new atmosphere taking shape through the district.”
Bonus Cards will be issued only while program funding lasts. After the funds are depleted, only standard gift cards will be sold. The Bonus Cards expire September 20, while the standard gift cards do not expire.
The City of Frisco and the FCDC first rolled out the BOGO Gift Card last October.
“Since then, more than $950,000 in gift cards and bonus cards have been redeemed,” said Ben Brezina, assistant city manager.
Participating businesses are listed inside the Yiftee app and at raildistrictfrisco.com. The cards cannot be used to purchase tobacco, vape, or smoke products.
