Former NFL football player and Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith has a restaurant in the works, set to open next year in “Sin City.” The restaurant and premier event venue will be called Emmitt’s Las Vegas.

A 30,000 square-foot undertaking, the development will overlook the Strip, surrounded by world-class resorts. The restaurant will be taking the place of the Sugar Factory American Brasserie, known for its extravagant desserts, that coincidentally just opened a location in uptown Dallas.

Plans for the restaurant say the first level will offer high-end fine dining, while the second level will house a multi-functional area called The Deck that will host watch parties, live music, and other elite events.

The second floor will also feature a viewing space for sports called The Player’s Lounge that serves as an ultra-lounge in the evenings, called Club 22 after the jersey number Smith wore for his fifteen seasons in the NFL.

The menu has not been made available yet, but a gallery of images on the site shows photos of steak, salmon, and chops.

The website for the restaurant currently displays a clock counting down to its opening day, which will be in March of 2022.

Jim Hensley, Director of Operations, said, “We are thrilled to establish Emmitt’s as one of the most desired destinations in Las Vegas.”

He added, “We are bringing the finest experts in food, dining, and entertainment to Emmitt’s that will emulate the energy Emmitt Smith brings to both his personal and professional lives.”

The décor will reportedly be inspired by Emmitt’s Pro Football Hall of Fame career, a thirteen-season run with the Dallas Cowboys, and two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. The running back was a first-round draft pick for the Cowboys in 1990 and played for three of their Super Bowl wins.

“I am excited to be in partnership with such innovative business leaders to create an exceptional space that will bring excellent food, unforgettable events, and a high-spirited atmosphere to the legendary Las Vegas Strip,” the former NFL player said in a statement. “We are working diligently to ensure this extremely versatile venue will create lasting memories for all those who walk through our doors.”
