After a caller reported a woman’s body floating in Lake Ray Hubbard, officers with the Dallas Police Department are trying to get to the bottom of the “unexplained death.”
A 911 caller reported a body floating in Lake Ray Hubbard on November 25. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded at 10:09 a.m. that same day, said Public Information Officer Jason Evans to The Dallas Express. The witness said the body was floating along I-30, between Dalrock and Rockwall.
“This is being investigated as an unexplained death,” said Dallas Police Public Information Officer Michael Dennis to The Dallas Express.
Dallas police responded near 9000 Marina Vista in Rowlett, near the Sapphire Bay Marina, around 10:30 a.m., according to Dennis. They found a woman’s body in the water.
Multiple agencies coordinated to retrieve the body, according to Evans. Around noon, the Dallas Fire Department Marine 1 boat and the Dallas police dive team worked together to pull the woman’s body from the water.
This is an “ongoing investigation,” Dennis told DX.
Throughout the past few years, responders have found dozens of bodies in lakes, bayous, and rivers across Texas, as The Dallas Express reported. Officials say most of these deaths are accidental.
Water-related deaths surged across Texas in 2025, as The Dallas Express reported. Boating accidents jumped more than 75% this past summer, and Texas parks saw 59 water-related deaths. As of early October, 73 Texas children had drowned this year.
