The U.S. Department of State’s Dallas Passport Agency will hold a special passport acceptance event on Saturday, May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Earle Cabell Federal Building, offering both routine and expedited services without appointments.

The event targets residents needing new or renewed passports ahead of peak summer travel. All processed applications will be mailed; same-day service is not available.

The special acceptance event is part of the State Department’s broader initiative to expand access through passport fairs and agency events amid rising demand, per the U.S. Department of State.

Passport applications have been running 18% above pre-pandemic levels, prompting additional weekend and evening options to ease backlogs, per VisaHQ.

The Dallas event is open to the public. No appointment is required. Attendees should bring completed application forms (DS-11 for first-time applicants), proof of U.S. citizenship, valid identification, one passport photo, and applicable fees. Expedited service requires printed proof of international travel within 14 calendar days (or 28 days if a foreign visa is needed), plus the $60 expedite fee, in addition to standard application fees.

Standard passport fees, paid by credit, debit, or contactless payment at the agency, include $130 for a first-time adult passport book (ages 16 and older), plus the $35 acceptance fee, where applicable. Fees for minors under 16 are lower. Full fee schedules are available on the State Department’s website.

The Dallas Passport Agency is located at 1100 Commerce St., Suite 1120, Dallas, TX 75242, on the first floor of the Earle Cabell Federal Building. Parking is available in nearby lots at varying daily rates. Visitors must pass security screening and are advised to arrive early and to bring no weapons, sharp objects, or food (water in a sealable bottle is permitted).

Routine processing times currently range from several weeks; expedited service shortens that window. The State Department recommends checking current processing times online before applying.

This weekend’s event aligns with similar special acceptance fairs hosted nationwide to accommodate first-time adult applicants and minors, who cannot renew by mail. The Dallas Passport Agency normally operates by appointment only during weekday hours.

Congressman Craig Goldman, R-Texas, highlighted the event on social media to inform constituents in the Dallas area.

Travelers are encouraged to verify eligibility and gather required documents in advance via travel.state.gov. For life-or-death emergencies, separate procedures apply through the State Department.
