The NFL released its report on the high schools of the players selected during last weekend’s NFL Draft, and Texas schools produced the second-most draft picks in the country.

Thirty players from the state were selected during the annual seven-round event, trailing only Florida, which had 36.

Of the players selected, 11 were from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, including Oregon defensive back Christian Gonzalez (The Colony) and Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Rockwall) in the first round.

TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston (Temple) and Texas Tech defensive end Tyree Wilson (West Rusk) also represented the state in the first round.

Other players selected from the DFW area included Arkansas linebacker Drew Sanders (Denton), TCU guard Steve Avila (Grand Prairie), Washington offensive tackle Braeden Daniels (Carrollton), Houston quarterback Clayton Tune (Carrollton), TCU defensive end Dylan Horton (Frisco), Oklahoma State defensive end Tyler Lacey (Sachse), Oklahoma wide receiver Marvin Mims (Frisco), SMU wide receiver Rashee Rice (North Richland Hills), and Oklahoma tight end Brayden Willis (Arlington).

In total, the 259 players selected represented 243 different high schools in 38 states and the District of Columbia, with Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) leading the way with three players drafted.

“Bishop Gorman has produced the best players in the state of Nevada for decades because of the talent and coaching leadership,” Bishop Gorman alum and current Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley told the NFL in the official release.

“I’m not surprised that more and more players from Las Vegas, and specifically Gorman, are getting drafted now, because it’s an elite high school program. I especially think it’s amazing to have another player from my high school joining the Ravens, and I am excited to welcome Kyu to Baltimore,” Stanley said.

Fourteen other schools had multiple players picked last weekend, including IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida), which produced multiple draft picks for the fifth consecutive year and a first-round choice (Georgia’s Nolan Smith) for the fourth year in a row.

Last year, 247 high schools and 38 states were represented, with Georgia’s Cedar Grove leading with three players.
