A college football all-star showcase designed to give overlooked players exposure to professional scouts is returning to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, with organizers announcing Monday that two eligible athletes will have an opportunity to earn roster spots through a new combine.
Dream Bowl XV is scheduled for Sunday, January 17, 2027, at AT&T Stadium, according to both The Dream Bowl’s official website and a September 21 announcement from sponsor Datavault AI.
The 15th-anniversary event will feature professional draft-eligible college football players from multiple NCAA divisions and NAIA programs.
Organizers also say the game is planned for a national broadcast on ESPN, although final broadcast details have not yet been announced.
Two Players Can Earn Their Way Onto The Roster
The biggest change announced Monday is the creation of what organizers are calling the Bowl Combine.
Rather than limiting the game to players already selected for the Dream Bowl roster, the combine will give additional eligible student-athletes an opportunity to compete for two roster positions.
Organizers said the two selected athletes are also expected to receive playing time in Dream Bowl XV.
“The Dream Bowl is still about one thing: putting players on a stage worthy of the work they have already put in,” founder Neil Malvone said in Monday’s announcement.
Malvone said adding a combine capable of placing two eligible players directly onto the roster represents another way to provide opportunities to athletes trying to continue their football careers.
Specific eligibility requirements have not yet been released.
Built For Overlooked College Players
The Dream Bowl was created in 2012 by Malvone, founder and CEO of Cutting Edge Sports Management.
According to The Dream Bowl, Malvone created the event specifically to give small-college football players an opportunity to display their abilities in front of scouts from professional football leagues in the United States, Canada and elsewhere.
The first Dream Bowl was held in 2013.
The organization describes the event as a college football all-star showcase that provides senior players with a bowl-game experience including practices, football activities and opportunities for evaluation.
The event has traditionally taken place around Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, a scheduling decision Malvone has said was intended to connect the football weekend with themes of family, civic engagement and King’s legacy.
Dream Bowl XV is scheduled for January 17, one day before the 2027 federal Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Four-Day Football Weekend Planned
Organizers say Dream Bowl XV will be part of a four-day college football weekend that includes practices, professional scouting sessions, the new Bowl Combine and the game at AT&T Stadium.
The Dream Bowl website lists Lobo Stadium in Little Elm as its practice facility and AT&T Stadium as the game venue.
The organization’s scouting operation says it evaluates thousands of players from college programs across the country.
Its current scouting page describes a database containing more than 4,000 players and says athletes from previous Dream Bowl events have gone on to opportunities in the NFL, Canadian Football League and United Football League.
The new combine is intended to expand the pool further by allowing players who were not initially selected for the roster to compete for a place in the game.
Technology Will Track Combine Results
Datavault AI, an official sponsor and technology partner of The Dream Bowl, says it plans to use several of its digital platforms during the combine to authenticate and record athlete credentials and performance results.
The company said the technology is intended to give participating athletes a verifiable record of their combine performance.
The precise testing format and eligibility requirements have not yet been announced.
Datavault AI also cautioned in its announcement that plans for the combine, roster selections, playing time and ESPN broadcast remain subject to change.
Returning To AT&T Stadium
Dream Bowl XV will be a return to the home of the Dallas Cowboys. Dream Bowl XIV was played at AT&T Stadium on January 11, 2026.
The Arlington stadium continues to host an increasingly diverse calendar of major sporting events.
Its upcoming schedule includes the Big 12 Football Championship on December 4, the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Cotton Bowl Classic on January 1, 2027, and a Dallas Cowboys game against the New York Giants on January 3.
AT&T Stadium also hosted nine FIFA World Cup matches during the summer of 2026, including a semifinal.
Dream Bowl XV will return football to the venue two weeks after the Cowboys’ January 3 home game.
Another Opportunity For Players To Be Seen
For many players from smaller college programs, postseason all-star games can provide another opportunity to put game film, measurements and testing results in front of professional evaluators.
The Dream Bowl has built its identity around those players since its launch more than a decade ago.
The new combine expands that concept by reserving two roster opportunities for athletes who earn their way into the game during the weekend.
Dream Bowl XV is scheduled for January 17, 2027, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
