The Texas Rangers and Frisco RoughRiders continued their seasons Tuesday.

Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (40-20, first in American League West)

Last Game: Rangers 6, St. Louis Cardinals 4

The Rangers won their fifth consecutive game thanks to a three-run double from Marcus Semien in the fourth inning. Texas had fought back to tie the game after falling behind 2-0, and the double put the Rangers ahead for good. The Cardinals cut the lead to two with two home runs in the sixth, but the Rangers’ bullpen held St. Louis hitless the rest of the game.

Noteworthy: Texas pushes its lead in the AL West to 4.5 games and continues to add to its best start in franchise history. The Rangers have the second-best record in the MLB through 60 games this season.

— Semien’s double stretched his hitting streak to 25 games, tying Ian Kinsler and Michael Young for the second-longest in team history. He needs a hit in three more consecutive games to tie the team’s record, set by Gabe Kapler in 2000.

— The Rangers lead the MLB in batting average, hits, runs scored, and RBIs.

— Free agent signing Jacob deGrom will have Tommy John surgery to repair a torn UCL and miss the remainder of the season.

Next Up: Cardinals (25-37) at Rangers, 7:05 p.m. CT Wednesday

Last Game: RoughRiders 6, Corpus Christi Hooks 2

Shortstop Luisangel Acuna knocked in two runs with a double in the seventh, while Jax Biggers and Aaron Zavala combined for three RBIs in the eighth. The Frisco bullpen threw five scoreless innings to close the door.

Noteworthy: Before the game, starting pitcher Tekoah Roby was placed on the seven-day injured list, and outfielder J.P. Martinez was transferred to Triple-A Round Rock.

— Frisco starter Jack Leiter struck out seven while allowing two runs on two hits through four innings.

— Reliever Alex Speas threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts and now has an 0.89 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 20.1 innings pitched this season.

— Acuna and outfielder Dustin Harris are tied for the Texas League lead in stolen bases with 22.

WNBA

Dallas Wings (3-3, tied for second in Western Conference)

Noteworthy: The Wings have used a salary cap hardship to sign Baylor alum Odyssey Sims for the rest of the season. Sims is a former All-Star who played for the Wings during the 2016 season.

— Former Baylor star Brittney Griner will make her first trip to Dallas since being released from a Russian prison as the Phoenix Mercury faces the Wings on Wednesday. Griner leads Phoenix with 22 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game.
