The soccer world has been waiting for Argentine superstar Lionel Messi to decide where he will play next.

Published reports say the 35-year-old great has made up his mind and will land with Inter Miami as part of the Major League Soccer franchise.

CBS Sports says Messi will not return to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) or Barcelona, where he played most of his career. Other outlets have confirmed the report.

Messi’s deal would include an option for part-ownership of the team, ESPN reported.

Several of Messi’s former Barcelona teammates reportedly were interested in coming with him to Miami.

After winning the World Cup with Argentina in December, Messi was acclaimed as one of the top players in the world.

The deal has the potential to be one of the most significant in MLS history, CBS reported, comparable to when David Beckham left Real Madrid and joined the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007.

Beckham is president of Inter Miami’s franchise, which plays its matches at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Dallas has a team in the 29-team MLS. FC Dallas is in the Western Conference. Inter Miami is an Eastern Conference team.
