The Texas Rangers were the only local team in action Monday, while the NHL Playoffs continued with Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Here is what happened on the field, on the ice, and behind the scenes.

MLB
Texas Rangers (39-20, first in American League West)
Last Game: Rangers 4, St. Louis Cardinals 3

The Rangers walked off with a win against the Cardinals as Nathaniel Lowe singled home Marcus Semien in the bottom of the ninth. Texas scored three runs in the second to take a three-run lead, but St. Louis tied it on a Nolan Arenado double in the eighth. Semien and Corey Seager got on base with one out in the bottom of the ninth, and Lowe came through with a big hit.

Noteworthy: Texas continues to hold a 3.5-game lead over the Houston Astros in the AL West. The 39 wins are the most through 59 games in franchise history. The team did not reach 39 wins last season until July 9, the 82nd game of the season.

— Semien went 2-4 with an RBI single in the second to extend his hitting streak to 24 games, only four short of the franchise record. He is now hitting .306 on the season with nine home runs and 48 RBIs.

— Lowe went 2-5 with the game-winning single. He is hitting .283 with 36 RBIs this season.

— The Rangers transferred starting pitcher Jacob deGrom from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list on Monday. DeGrom has been out with elbow inflammation since April 29 and cannot return before June 28.

Next Up: Cardinals (25-36) at Rangers, 7:05 p.m. CT Tuesday

NHL PLAYOFFS — STANLEY CUP FINALS
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Florida Panthers (Vegas leads 2-0)
Last Game: Vegas 7, Florida 2

The Golden Knights cruised in Game 2, taking a 2-0 series lead as the Stanley Cup Finals move to Florida for Games 3 and 4. Jonathan Marchessault opened the scoring with a power play goal as Vegas raced out to a 4-0 lead after two periods. Anton Lundell and Matthew Tkachuk got Florida on the board in the third but were matched with three more goals from the Golden Knights.

Noteworthy: Vegas has outscored Florida 12-4 through the series’ first two games.

— Marchessault’s 12 playoff goals are the second-most in the NHL this postseason, one behind Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl.

— Whichever team wins the series will be a first-time Stanley Cup champion.

Next Game: Golden Knights at Panthers, Game 3, 7 p.m. CT Thursday
