The schedule makers did Houston no favors in its first year in the Big 12. The Cougars will open conference play against national runner-up TCU and have to travel to Kansas State later in the year. They also play quite a few consistently good programs like Baylor, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, and UCF.
University of Cincinnati, University of Houston, University of Central Florida, and BYU will be joining the Big 12 this season, giving the conference 14 members.
University of Oklahoma and University of Texas will remain members of the conference in 2023 after rumors of an early exit to the SEC.
The Big 12 Championship will be played between the top two teams in the conference at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on December 2.
There will once again be no divisions in the Big 12 this season.
