Trump: Iran Must Surrender Unconditionally – Hints Cuba Next

President Donald Trump has demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” as Congress declined to rein in his war powers.

Trump said he would accept nothing less than “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” from Iran in a March 6 post on Truth Social. As The Dallas Express reported, American forces launched attacks on Iran on February 28. Operation Epic Fury has resulted in the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top Iranian leaders.

The Senate rejected a resolution to curb the President’s Iran strikes by a vote of 47-53 on March 4, and the House followed suit by a vote of 212-219 on March 5, according to the Associated Press. By rejecting these measures, Congress effectively gave Trump continued leeway to pursue military action in Iran.

Trump initially took action without Congress’ approval, but sent a war powers notification on March 2, consistent with the War Powers Resolution, as The Dallas Express reported.

The War Powers Act of 1973 requires the President to notify Congress within 48 hours of entering a conflict. This starts a 60-day clock for him to disengage, with a potential 30-day extension for a withdrawal.

Democrat Rep. Gregory Meeks, of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, asked Trump to bring the conflict for a vote before Congress, according to the AP.

“Donald Trump is not a king, and if he believes the war with Iran is in our national interest, then he must come to Congress and make the case,” Meeks said.

Meanwhile, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson reportedly warned that limiting the President’s authority would be “dangerous” in the midst of a current conflict.

“We are not at war. We have no intention of being at war,” Johnson said, according to KGW News. “It’s an operation that’s limited in its scope and duration. It has a very clear mission, and that mission is nearly accomplished by all estimates.”

Meanwhile, the conflict continues to spread across the region.

Israeli Defense Forces reportedly struck alleged Hezbollah command centers in Beirut, Lebanon, overnight March 5 to 6. The nation’s government outlawed Hezbollah on March 2, after the group launched attacks on Israel, per Reuters.

“The command centers were intended to be used by Hezbollah to advance and carry out numerous terror attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel,” the IDF said, according to NBC News.

Trump has been meeting with Kurdish militias to discuss a potential Iran incursion, according to The Wall Street Journal. He is also reportedly speaking with other groups across the region.

So far, it appears Russia and China have kept their distance from the conflict. However, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres reportedly called for an end to the fighting and warned that the “situation could spiral beyond anyone’s control,” per NBC News.

Meanwhile, Trump said Iran is his top priority – but Cuba could be next, he told CNN.

“Cuba is gonna fall pretty soon, by the way,” Trump said, per the outlet. “Unrelated, but Cuba is gonna fall too. They want to make a deal so badly.”

“They want to make a deal, and so I’m going to put Marco (Rubio) over there and we’ll see how that works out,” Trump added. “We’re really focused on this one right now. We’ve got plenty of time, but Cuba’s ready – after 50 years.”
