Dallas is making a name for itself in the ranks of America’s most beautiful cities, recently placing fourth on Thumbtack’s 2024 list of U.S. cities with the best “curb appeal.”
The Thumbtack report analyzed various project requests and ranked cities based on consumer requests made between August 2023 and August 2024. Various service requests were analyzed in the report including asphalt repairs, exterior painting, lawn care, gutter cleaning, pest control, roof maintenance, tree trimming, and even new window installations. Rankings reflected the frequency of these requests adjusted for each city’s population, according to Thumbtack.
To maintain curb appeal, Dallas residents should plan to budget around $3,576 for essential autumn projects, according to the report. This figure includes costs for gutter cleaning, winterizing sprinkler systems, tree trimming, and lawn upkeep, crucial tasks to prepare homes for the unpredictable Texas winters.
Maintenance costs remain a key consideration for many Dallas residents when budgeting for their homes. The national average for tree trimming is around $718, while other services like pressure washing or shrub trimming can exceed $300.
Curb appeal also plays a big role in the real estate market, and while Dallas homeowners are dedicated to their outdoor appeal, they still trail behind three other cities: Atlanta, Austin, and Charlotte, NC. Those cities hold the top three spots for best curb appeal in America, according to the Thumbtack rankings. However, Dallas climbed from fifth place last year to its new ranking at fourth, overtaking Washington, D.C.
The progress made by Dallas has been consistent and recognized in a few other reports this year as well, as previously covered by The Dallas Express.
According to a ranking by U.S. News & World Report published this summer, ten Texas cities ranked among the best places to live in the United States. The report evaluated the top 150 cities based on factors like desirability, job market conditions, quality of life, and overall property values.
Notably, Dallas ranked 95th, receiving an overall score of 6.1. The report highlighted DFW’s unique blend of Texas pride and big city amenities.
