Two Dallas men have been arrested in connection with an attempted home invasion in San Jose, California, after investigators say the suspects posed as delivery workers while targeting a residence.

Suspects Allegedly Brandished Firearm at Door

San José police said officers responded to a south San Jose residence around 9:30 p.m. on September 5 after a homeowner reported a suspicious incident.

Home surveillance video showed two men attempting to deliver a package. During the encounter, one of the men, who was wearing a ski mask, allegedly pulled out a firearm.

The two suspects then fled the area in a vehicle before officers arrived.

Investigation Linked Suspects to Other Crimes

Detectives with the San José Police Department’s Robbery Unit used automated license plate reader data to identify the vehicle involved in the incident.

Investigators identified the suspects as 20-year-old Damian Vielma and 19-year-old Jeremiah Clybourn, both of Dallas.

According to police, detectives subsequently uncovered evidence connecting the pair to multiple crimes in different jurisdictions, including the city of Atherton. Investigators said the suspects typically targeted people believed to have significant cryptocurrency wealth while posing as delivery personnel.

Arrests Made in Dallas

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Vielma and Clybourn. On September 24, investigators located and detained both men in Dallas with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, Dallas Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and the San José Police Department’s Covert Response Unit.

During a search of a residence associated with the investigation, detectives recovered evidence they said is connected to the San Jose case. Police also reported finding several firearms, including one they identified as the firearm used in the San Jose incident.

Vielma and Clybourn were booked into the Dallas County Jail on multiple charges, including attempted robbery, a stolen-vehicle offense and firearm-related crimes.

The suspects are awaiting extradition to Santa Clara County.

Police Seek Information

San José police are asking anyone with information about the case or similar incidents to contact Detective Ledesma of the department’s Robbery Unit at 408-277-4166 or by email at [email protected].
