A driver was arrested Thursday evening after a vehicle struck a crowd of people near the Bishop Arts District, sending four individuals to the hospital, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Officers responded around 7 p.m. on June 18 to the 300 block of West Davis Street in North Oak Cliff following reports that a truck had driven into a group of people gathered outside a taco stand. An eyewitness told Fox 4 KDFW that the driver backed up, stopped, and backed up again, hitting several outdoor tables where patrons were sitting. Two people were reportedly trapped underneath the truck.
Police said several people were injured and at least four victims were transported to a local hospital. Authorities reported that all four were in stable condition.
The driver was taken into custody at the scene. Police have not released the individual’s identity or announced any charges as of Friday morning.
Dallas police said the circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation. Authorities have not indicated whether the crash was intentional, nor have they released details regarding what may have caused the driver to enter the crowd.
Investigators continued processing the scene Thursday evening as officers worked to determine exactly what happened.
The incident occurred along West Davis Street, a heavily traveled corridor leading into the Bishop Arts District, one of Dallas’ most popular dining, shopping, and entertainment destinations. The area regularly attracts large numbers of pedestrians, particularly in the evening, when restaurants and businesses are busiest.
Thursday’s incident is the latest serious traffic-related event along the West Davis Street corridor. In July 2025, seven people were injured in a chain-reaction crash near West Davis Street and Tyler Road. Later that year, a driver was arrested following a fatal auto-pedestrian collision in the 400 block of West Davis Street.
Police said the injured victims are expected to survive. No additional information about their identities or the extent of their injuries has been released.
