With Veterans Day falling on a Friday this year, local businesses are primed to engage in the great American tradition of offering weekend meal deals in honor of current and former military service members.
Unlike other holidays that tend to bounce around the calendar each year, Veterans Day is fixed to November 11, commemorating the day that active fighting ended in World War I. As time went on, the day morphed into a broader holiday meant to celebrate and remember the nation’s past and present service members.
Many businesses offer exclusive discounts to active-duty service members and veterans in honor of the occasion. Gastrobar chain Bar Louie, for instance, is offering anyone with a valid military ID a free hamburger on Friday at all of their DFW locations.
Bombshells Restaurant & Bar, a military-themed restaurant, is offering free entrees to veterans on Veterans Day and 20% off everything else on the menu for active-duty members and their families.
Veterans and active-duty service members who dine in and show their military ID at any Buffalo Wild Wings can get 10 free boneless wings and fries, and at any Corner Bakery, they can get 20% off all purchases.
Any active or former military looking for some free breakfast and coffee on Friday morning can visit a Kolache Factory location in Richardson, Plano, Murphy, and Frisco.
Dining in at any Thirsty Lion Gastropub DFW location as a military member, former or active, warrants a free entree and nonalcoholic beverage.
If French cuisine sounds en pointe, active and former military members can stop by La Madeleine for 30% off their meals.
And how could any Veterans Day pass by without a complimentary donut for active-duty service members and veterans from Dunkin’ Donuts?
