The Dallas Cowboys are adding another new staff member for 2023 as the University of Southern California’s Will Harriger joins as an offensive assistant.

Harriger coached at USC for only one season and primarily served as an offensive analyst. He was also the team’s assistant quarterbacks coach, game management coordinator, and NFL liaison. He notably played a role in developing last year’s Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.

Harriger has 10 seasons of college coaching experience at USC, Texas, Texas Tech, Florida, Tennessee-Martin, Auburn, and Midwestern State, and will not be new to the NFL.

The Auburn alum was a member of the Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, and Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staffs from 2014 to 2021. His time in Seattle and Atlanta coincided with Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, and he worked with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer in Seattle and Jacksonville.

Harriger spent two years with the Atlanta Falcons while Quinn was the team’s head coach. He began as an offensive assistant and was eventually promoted to game management coordinator and running backs coach.

Under his watch, running back Brian Hill put together the best season of his career, and Todd Gurley ran for nine touchdowns.

Before his stint with Atlanta, Harriger spent five years in Seattle while Darrell Bevell and Schottenheimer served as the offensive coordinators. Harriger was an offensive assistant under Bevell and became the team’s assistant quarterbacks coach when Schottenheimer took over in 2018.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw for over 11,600 yards and 90 touchdowns in three years while working with Harriger, making leading the NFL in passing touchdowns for one of them and making Pro Bowls twice.

Harriger’s time in Seattle also briefly overlapped with Quinn during the 2014 season.

Harriger becomes the second new coach hired by Dallas from outside the organization this offseason after the team let go of eight assistant coaches last month, including offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier — who both ended up with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Earlier this month, the team hired Mike Solari as its new offensive line coach.

ESPN’s Todd Archer first reported the hiring of Harriger, but the Cowboys have yet to make an official announcement. The Dallas Express reached out to USC and the Cowboys for confirmation but has yet to receive a response.
