Another North Texas city could welcome a new H-E-B location if all goes according to plan.

The city of Argyle, a roughly 30-minute drive north of Fort Worth, could be the home of the next H-E-B location in the region.

On March 7, the Argyle Planning & Zoning Commission voted to recommend approval of a multi-phase development on a tract of land at the southwest corner of I-35 West and Robson Ranch Road. If it proceeds, the development on the 124-acre plot owned by Jim Willis will include an H-E-B store, a Baylor Scott & White wellness campus, and more.

Willis, who has owned the property for 25 years, has been rushing to get the green light for the grocery store’s construction over fears of losing out to Denton, another city that has been eyeing an H-E-B. The proposed Denton location is across from Hunter Ranch, home of the work-in-progress master-planned community of Landmark.

As previously reported in The Dallas Express, H-E-B has been aggressively pushing to expand in North Texas. In January, the grocery store chain acquired around 27 acres at the southeast corner of FM 3433 and U.S. Route 287 in Wise County. Just a few months prior, in October 2024, H-E-B purchased a nearly 26-acre lot in far east Mesquite.

Although H-E-B has not officially confirmed a new store is in the works in Argyle, a spokesperson for the company, Mabrie Jackson, previously confirmed to the Dallas Business Journal that the grocer was eying locations in the area.

With the Planning & Zoning Commission’s recommendation secured, H-E-B’s fate in Argyle now rests in the hands of the Town Council, with a March 17 vote potentially forthcoming.
