Dallas-born luxury home decor brand The Citizenry returns to its roots with its newest location in the Knox District.
The new 1,500-square-foot store at 4527 McKinney Ave. is the brand’s first store to open outside its flagship New York City location. The opening marks the brand’s return to its Dallas origins.
“Dallas is more than just another location for us — it’s where our journey began. We couldn’t be more excited to bring the world’s best craftsmanship to our hometown,” Havenly Brands Design Director Heather Goerzen told the Dallas Business Journal.
Online home furnishing company Havenly Brands, based out of Denver, acquired The Citizenry in a deal last year. Havenly has been on an acquisition spree, also purchasing Interior Define and The Inside. The moves are all part of the company’s plans to build a brand for digital-first home consumers. In fact, The Citizenry’s location in Dallas will share a wall with Interior Define.
“In Dallas, the two stores are actually combined in one of the most vibrant and sought-after retail neighborhoods, creating a seamless, layered shopping experience to help customers discover and mix our brands for a design-driven, collected aesthetic,” Goerzen said.
Patrons of The Citizenry can expect a diverse offering of home decor items, like bedding, pillows, rugs, furniture, wall art, drinkware, and more. The company prides itself on selling only fair trade items guaranteed by the World Fair Trade Organization.
“We believe an object is only as beautiful as the environment in which it’s made. That’s why we travel the globe to bring the world’s best craftsmanship home to you,” reads a message from co-founders Carly Nance and Rachel Bentley on the company’s website.
“Each collection is made with the finest materials. All thoughtfully designed and ethically crafted by master artisans.”
The cost to open The Citizenry location in Dallas was not disclosed.
