Celebration Of Life For Abuelita Lily

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you with me so that where I am you will also be.” John 14: 3

LILY ARGENTINA CASTILLO, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas and I rise to the glory of our Lord at 12:40 pm on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the age of 94 old. They all knew her lovingly as “granny” and loved her deeply as she brought immense joy, confidence, wisdom, strength and much more to those around her. Granny loved to cook her favorite dishes such as Quezaltecan rice tamales at Christmas time and her requirement was always to grind what was necessary on stone and also accompany them with a delicious tasty punch. She also loved to make the Quezaltecan patches, and usually kept making tamalitos de masa to eat with food. In addition, all kinds of music was his preference, including the Guatemalan marimba and he always liked to listen to it, dance to it and also sleep with it. Because of her way of being, the grandmother was a very smiling woman and she loved living and socializing with everyone, traveling and enjoying life. She always ate our Lord Jesus Christ and although she was uncomfortable and in pain during the last days of her life, her faith always remained intact.

The grandmother was born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala on August 28, 1926. She received her public education also in Quetzaltenango and took several courses in shorthand, including spelling, and always had the gift of good letter writing. In 1976, she moved from her beloved country of Guatemala to Los Angeles, California where she worked as a homemaker in a private home. In 1983, he moved from Los Angeles, CA to Garland, TX, where he was reunited with his family and then worked at a local nursing home until his retirement. Soon after, she started babysitting for family and friends and she always did it with lots of love and affection for many years! To cherish her memories, there is her beautiful daughter and best friend, Hilda Argentina Escolero Castillo, her children Luis Arturo Castillo, Sr., Edgar Rolando Castillo and including a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and other families. She was preceded in death by her husband José Raúl Castillo Maldonado and their children: Jorge Raúl Castillo, Olga Castillo, Rosario Castillo, Fabiola Castillo, Gabriel Perboire Castillo and Ana Maria de Pratdesaba.

Granny Lily’s favorite color was blue. We would love if you could honor her by wearing something blue or any vibrant color to celebrate the incredible life [she] lived.
