As international soccer fans continue arriving in the United States for the FIFA World Cup, a distinctly American condiment has emerged as an unlikely star of the tournament: ranch dressing.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) this week joined a viral social media trend highlighting international visitors’ reactions to trying ranch for the first time, while also issuing a reminder about airport security rules.

In a post shared on social media, the agency wrote, “One World. One Ranch,” embracing the condiment’s growing popularity among World Cup travelers.

Viral Food Trend Meets Airport Security

The TSA used the online trend to remind travelers that ranch dressing is classified as a liquid under federal aviation security regulations.

Under the agency’s 3-1-1 rule, liquids carried through airport security checkpoints must be contained in containers of 3.4 ounces or less and fit inside a quart-sized bag. Larger containers must be packed in checked luggage.

“If you’re visiting for a very large sporting event & you happen to discover RANCH while you’re here … pls pack it in your CHECKED BAG on the way home,” the TSA said in one of several humorous social media posts.

The agency also joked about oversized ranch containers at airport checkpoints, posting messages such as “Days since the last airport ranch incident: 0” and advising travelers not to “chug” large containers before entering security.

Another post humorously referenced travelers attempting to carry multiple bottles of ranch through checkpoints, noting that a carry-on bag was not intended for “4 bottles of ranch & a taser.”

International Fans Embrace An American Favorite

The TSA’s comments come as World Cup visitors have documented their experiences with American food and culture on social media.

Among the most widely shared posts was one from Swedish traveler Elsa Thora, who praised ranch dressing after trying it during her U.S. visit. Her post generated millions of views online and sparked further discussion among international fans discovering the condiment.

Ranch has become a recurring topic in World Cup-related content, with visitors sharing reactions to pairing the dressing with foods such as pizza, chicken wings, fries, onion rings, quesadillas, and vegetables.

The TSA leaned into the trend by calling ranch the “king of condiments” and joking that “dip-lomacy” could be achieved through a shared appreciation of the dressing.

World Cup Brings Cultural Exchange

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, being hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, has drawn fans from around the world and generated a steady stream of social media content highlighting cultural differences and unexpected discoveries.

While soccer remains the focus of the tournament, the popularity of ranch dressing among visitors has become one of the lighter viral moments surrounding the event.

The TSA concluded its public service announcement with a nod to the condiment’s newest fans.

“Some heroes wear capes,” the agency wrote. “Others bring ranch.”
