The “trans” roommate of Tyler James Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, has been identified as 22-year-old Lance Twiggs of St. George, Utah — and is cooperating with federal investigators.
Fox News correspondent Brooke Singman first reported Robinson had been living with a “trans” partner now cooperating with the FBI. The New York Post later identified Twiggs, citing public records listing him at Robinson’s address and family confirmation that the two were roommates.
Senior FBI officials told Fox News Digital that Robinson and Twiggs were in a “romantic relationship” and shared an apartment in St. George. Those officials said Twiggs has been “extremely cooperative” and stressed that he “had no idea” Robinson was allegedly planning to assassinate Kirk.
FBI officials confirmed Twiggs is not currently accused of any criminal activity in connection with the shooting.
According to an affidavit filed by Utah authorities and reported by the Daily Mail, Twiggs turned over text messages Robinson allegedly sent about retrieving a rifle and stashing it in a bush wrapped in a towel. The affidavit states Robinson also mentioned bullet engravings, a scope, and changing outfits. Investigators later recovered a Mauser .30-06 caliber rifle matching those descriptions near Utah Valley University.
FBI officials told Fox News Digital that agents collected additional evidence from the apartment Robinson and Twiggs shared, including computers that were sent to Quantico for review.
Twiggs’ grandfather told the Mail he could not comment on speculation about his grandson’s identity or a possible transgender motive. He confirmed, however, that Twiggs had been in contact with police. Neighbors described Robinson and Twiggs as reclusive, noting investigators spent hours collecting evidence from their townhouse on Friday.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck during a Q&A session at UVU after a question about “transgender” mass shooters. He was rushed into emergency surgery and pronounced dead hours later. President Donald Trump responded by calling for a federal crackdown on what he described as “vicious” left-wing extremism.
