Multiple Republican congresswomen in the House Oversight Committee claim the FBI is “afraid” one of its informants will be killed for sharing information about President Joe Biden’s alleged involvement with a criminal bribery scheme.

However, one says the FBI is using this as an “excuse” not to disclose long-sought-after documents to Congress.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the House Oversight Committee has issued a subpoena to the FBI for an FD-1023 form that details allegations from an informant about a “criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions.”

After leaving a committee meeting on June 5, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said the FBI “is afraid their informant will be killed if unmasked, based on the info he has brought forward about the Biden family,” in a June 5 tweet now pinned to her profile.

The Florida congresswoman also told Fox News that the bureau’s concerns were “alarming and scary.”

Luna’s claims were substantiated by her Republican colleagues on the House Oversight Committee.

Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina told the New York Post that “the FBI has told us the whistleblower can’t come forward publicly because they fear for his safety.”

“If the FBI can’t verify information, investigate potential crimes, or keep people safe, what exactly are they good for?” she asked.

Furthermore, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) told DailyMail.com that the whistleblower is afraid “someone could kill them if someone found out who they are.”

She said the whistleblower “fears for their own life because of our government.”

Greene said the FBI is using this fear as grounds to withhold the document,  but she claims they are actually refusing to disclose it for “purely political” reasons.

“Their excuse, which we find to be completely false, is the FBI is claiming it is to protect their informants, even though the names are redacted,” Greene said, adding that the FBI would protect the informant if the agency “cared about doing the right thing,” DailyMail.com reported.

Greene accused FBI Director Christopher Wray and the “deeply political” Justice Department of trying to protect President Biden and said Congress should proceed with contempt charges against Wray.

“The unclassified document should be in our hands right now,” she said.

However, the FBI said it “has continually demonstrated its commitment to working with the [House Oversight] Committee to accommodate its request, from scheduling briefings and calls to now allowing the Chair and Ranking Member to review information in person.”

“The commonsense protections the FBI has requested to maintain the confidentiality of that sensitive information are routinely employed both in response to congressional requests and in court in criminal proceedings to protect the physical safety of sources and the integrity of investigations,” the agency said, per the New York Post.
