Mondelēz Global LLC has expanded its recall of Chips Ahoy! Baked Bites Brookie snacks to include additional production dates after discovering corn starch clumps that pose a choking hazard.
The Food and Drug Administration announced the expansion, adding a new code date and two additional product sizes to the recall announced in December.
The faulty mixing process that created the potentially dangerous clumps affects products with “Best When Used By” dates ranging from May 9 through May 18, 2026. Young children and elderly consumers face the highest risk from the corn starch formations.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported, according to the FDA. The company traced the problem to an “incorrect mixing process” during production.
The expanded recall now includes four product varieties: the 22.4-ounce 8-count caddie (UPC 44000086688), 2.8-ounce pouches (UPC4400008667), 7-ounce 5-count packages (UPC 44000085650), and 1.4-ounce individual pouches (4400008566). All affected products were distributed to select retail stores nationwide.
Consumers should check their pantries for the specific UPC and date codes listed in the recall notice. The FDA advises throwing away any matching products rather than consuming them.
Other Chips Ahoy! products and Mondelēz brands remain unaffected by the recall. Customers with questions can contact the company’s hotline at 1-855-535-5948 during business hours.
The original December 24 recall covered fewer production dates and package sizes. This expansion suggests quality control issues may have affected a broader production run than initially identified.
