President Joe Biden’s approval rating has dropped to a record low, with Americans reportedly concerned about his mental and physical fitness along with his administration’s management of the economy.

A recent Washington Post-ABC News survey found that approval for the president has fallen to 36% — Biden’s lowest approval rating since he took office.

His previous record low was 39%, measured by a Gallup poll last summer. Biden’s approval rating has dropped nine points since February, when it was recorded at 45%.

Furthermore, the Post-ABC poll found that 56% of Americans disapprove of the current administration.

Even among Democrats, 58% said they would prefer someone other than Biden be the presidential nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Only 36% of Democrats said they wanted Biden as the nominee.

President Biden announced his campaign for re-election two weeks ago.

In a statement to The Dallas Express, Roger Shafer of the Dallas Young Republicans asserted that “every clear-minded voter knows the Biden administration is the most inept in modern history.”

However, he added that political polling is often “wrought with biased oversampling and deceptive questioning.”

“I’m sure the [mainstream media] would prefer replacing President Biden with a more broadly appealing candidate,” Shafer said.

This particular survey indicates that one of the key factors behind disfavor toward Biden is his administration’s management of the economy.

When asked who handled the economy better between President Biden and former President Donald Trump, only 36% said Biden has, while 54% said Trump did a better job.

Another factor could be that voters do not see the 80-year-old president as physically or mentally fit to serve in this role any longer.

More than half of respondents (62%) said Biden is not in “good enough physical health” to function as president. Furthermore, 63% said Biden does not have the “mental sharpness” needed to effectively lead the country.

Additionally, 54% said they do not believe Biden “is honest and trustworthy.”

Comparatively, 64% affirm they believe that former president Donald Trump, who is now 76 years old, is mentally healthy enough to serve another term, while 54% said he has the physical fitness to be president.

However, concerns remain over whether Trump can be trusted. According to the survey, 63% of respondents said they believe the former president is not “honest and trustworthy.”

Despite these reservations, Trump seems to be the favored Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

The Post-ABC poll also found that Republican voters are currently favoring Trump as the 2024 presidential nominee as opposed to Florida Governor Ron Desantis.

In his aforementioned statement to The Dallas Express, Shafer contended that the mainstream media has “incorrectly decided President Trump is their preferred opponent.”

According to the Post-ABC survey, 43% of Republican-leaning respondents said they would like the GOP to nominate Trump, while only 20% said they would prefer DeSantis. Another 27% said they have no opinion either way.

“Governor DeSantis proved he’s not ready for the big stage, given his many stumbles last month,” Shafer claimed. “His army of mega donors [is] shifting his messaging.”

Meanwhile, President Biden is scheduled to have multiple high-end campaign fundraisers in New York City this week, as reported by The Dallas Express.
