The U.S. State Department is preparing to release limited-edition passports this summer to mark America’s 250th anniversary of independence. The commemorative designs prominently feature President Donald Trump.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott confirmed the plans, stating: “As the United States celebrates America’s 250th anniversary in July, the State Department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed U.S. passports to commemorate this historic occasion,” reported Fox News.

The passports include customized artwork while retaining the same security features as standard U.S. passports. Mock-ups show an image of President Donald Trump on the inside cover, surrounded by the text of the Declaration of Independence, the American flag, and his signature in gold. Another page displays a painting of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence.

The limited-edition booklets will be available to any American citizen who applies for a new passport during the rollout period, while supplies last, Fox News reported. Distribution is expected to begin around July 2026 at the Washington Passport Agency.

The cover features enlarged text reading “United States of America” above the crest. The back cover includes an American flag with “250” centered among the 13 stars from the 1777 Betsy Ross flag design.

This initiative is part of the broader America250 and Freedom 250 observances coordinated by the Trump administration and federal agencies. The State Department’s Freedom 250 page highlights the July 4, 2026, milestone, quoting President Trump: “With a single sheet of parchment and 56 signatures, America began the greatest political journey in human history.”

Standard U.S. passports remain available through regular application processes at travel.state.gov. The special editions are optional commemorative versions offered alongside routine applications.

The America250 effort builds on a congressional commission established in 2016, with implementation details under the current administration.
