Meteorologists predict a quiet start to the week before thunderstorms return to the region.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth (NWS) predicts a chance for showers and thunderstorms for the latter half of the week, some possibly strong and severe.
North Texans may have noticed sprinkles of rain across the metroplex on the morning of March 11. Light rain is expected to end by midday as temperatures rise into the upper 60s to 70s with sunny skies. Â We can expect highs in the 40s and 50s, with mostly clear skies for the evening hours.
A warming trend is expected to occur in the following days, with temperatures rising into the mid-70s by March 12 and into the 80s on March 13 with continued sunny conditions.
However, weather experts predict a widespread chance for severe weather across the region along with a cold front starting on March 14. Although the timing presented by these storms is currently unknown, meteorologists expect hazards such as hail and damaging winds.
Widespread chances for showers are expected to continue through the remainder of the week and into the weekend, with temperatures dropping into the 60s for highs and 50s for lows. Storms will also be possible this weekend; however, no severe weather is expected.
Residents who intend to conduct outdoor activities this week are advised to be mindful of the changing weather conditions.
