Construction of the new headquarters of Rollertown Beerworks in Frisco is scheduled to begin in April, according to a state filing.

The Celina brewery entered a public-private partnership with the City of Frisco in November 2022 to build the new premises on 2.6 acres of property owned by the City of Frisco.

“Our 11,000+ square foot production facility will feature a new 60 [beer barrel] brew house capable of producing over 75,000 [beer barrels] annually while our 13,000+ square foot two-level indoor/outdoor Taproom, beer garden, and rooftop deck will be complemented by nearly 30,000 square feet of outdoor green space featuring at least one large performance stage,” according to the company’s website.

“We’ll be a couple of blocks from Toyota Stadium and will anchor exciting Downtown Frisco development plans.”

“One of our Council’s ‘Top Ten Priorities’ is to make historic downtown an entertainment destination,” Mayor Jeff Cheney said in a statement in 2022. “We’re confident it will be a high-energy, gathering place for residents and visitors, alike. In fact, our VisitFrisco team shares ‘breweries’ and ‘live music venues’ are two of the reasons why residents leave Frisco for other entertainment destinations. Rollertown Beerworks will be designed to have both.”

Rollertown owners Ben Rogers and Jeff “Skin” Wade, hosts of “The Ben and Skin Show” on 97.1 The Freak, expect to draw more than 250,000 visitors to Frisco each year at the new site, Cheney said.

The new headquarters will become a “destination … for families, dogs, and beer nerds alike,” and “a catalyst for entrepreneurship and a springboard for opportunity with unmatched hospitality and world-class beer.”

Rollertown’s public-private partnership includes up to $10 million from the Frisco Community Development Corporation for the construction of the brewery and for distribution and sales activities. The Frisco Economic Development Corporation will contribute another $2 million in grant funding for construction.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing shows the estimated cost of construction is $10 million for the 13,000-square-foot project, which is described as a “New Brewery and Restaurant/Taphouse and entertainment facility.”

The economic development agreement requires that costs exceeding the city’s $12 million allocation for design and construction must be covered by Rollertown, which expects to employ at least 36 workers. As part of the agreement, Rollertown will repay $10 million at 4% interest within 23 years. Following the second year of operation, the repayment provision for the $2 million grant will be forgiven, according to the city.

Frisco will retain ownership of the property and buildings.

The project has a delivery date of April 15, 2025. Rollertown will continue to operate its Celina brewery.
