It is gearing up to be a busy spring break, with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport expecting a record number of passengers to move through its gates during the travel season.

It is estimated that 4.6 million customers will pass through the airport between March 7 and 25. If accurate, this would make the spring break travel period 13% busier than the same time last year, read a post on X from the airport’s official account.

According to the airport’s website, DFW is “one of the most connected airports in the country,” with over 250 non-stop destinations. As a result, it sees significant passenger volume. In fact, in 2022, the airport had 73.4 million passengers, over 17% more than the year before and the second highest of any airport in the United States.

Travelers have been advised to plan ahead this spring break, especially on March 15, 17, and 22, the busiest travel days of the holiday. Roughly a quarter-million passengers will be served by DFW Airport during those key dates.

DFW advises arriving two hours early for flights, whether domestic or international. For convenience, gate information can be found on the DFW Airport App, and security wait times can be found on the airport’s website.

“This year is shaping up to be the busiest spring break season on record at DFW, which makes it important for travelers to book their parking online ahead of time, arrive at the airport early, and allow extra time to relax and enjoy the airport before takeoff,” said Ken Buchanan, DFW’s executive vice president of revenue management and customer experience.

DFW Airport celebrated its 50th anniversary earlier this year. The region’s flagship airport first began operations back on January 13, 1974.
