The Swedish national team arrived in North Texas on Saturday, turning Frisco from a World Cup preparation site into an active base for one of the teams set to play in the Dallas region.

Players and staff arrived Saturday evening and exited the team plane around 5:15 p.m., with the North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee hosting a limited media opportunity, Fox 4 reported.

Sweden will use Toyota Stadium in Frisco as its official team base camp during the tournament. The stadium will be known as Frisco Stadium during the World Cup.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Sweden secured the final open spot in Dallas’ 2026 World Cup group-stage schedule after defeating Poland in a playoff. The win also confirmed that the Swedish team would use FC Dallas’ Toyota Stadium in Frisco as its base camp training site.

Sweden is one of two national teams using North Texas as a base camp, along with Czechia, which will train at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium in Mansfield.

Team base camps serve as the primary training and operations hubs for national teams during the tournament, giving players and staff a place for practices, recovery, and day-to-day preparation between matches.

Sweden is making its first World Cup appearance since 2018, when the team reached the quarterfinals before losing to England.

The Dallas region will host nine matches, including a semifinal, and North Texas will help drive training, travel, hospitality, and fan activity throughout the tournament.

The Dallas Express is also building out its World Cup coverage. DX recently received FIFA World Cup 2026 media accreditation, giving the outlet access to cover the tournament for North Texas readers. DXSN has also previewed the tournament with a World Cup special focused on soccer culture, international fans, and what Dallas-Fort Worth can expect when the world arrives.

Sweden’s arrival marks another step in North Texas’ World Cup buildup as teams, fans, and international attention begin moving toward Dallas-Fort Worth.
