A multi-day severe weather pattern is underway across the central United States, with isolated severe thunderstorms possible in portions of North Texas on Thursday as a dryline and upper-level disturbances support storm development.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of North Texas in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather in its Day 1 Convective Outlook, while an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) covers eastern Kansas into far northern Oklahoma.

Isolated storms may develop along a dryline, mainly northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, this afternoon and may produce large hail and damaging winds.

National Weather Service forecasters in Fort Worth noted in their latest discussion that a highly conditional threat for a severe storm or two exists late Thursday afternoon and evening west of I-35 and north of I-20. Surface heating is expected to contribute to instability, though widespread coverage remains uncertain.

The broader system features stronger severe potential farther north near the Kansas-Oklahoma border, where very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes are possible this afternoon and evening before transitioning to more of a wind threat overnight.

Residents across North Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth area and surrounding counties, should monitor forecasts closely. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth reported low overall chances of storms today but indicated additional storms are possible Friday, mainly northeast of the metroplex, some of which could become severe into the late evening.

This activity marks the beginning of an active stretch, with the threat of a few severe storms continuing into the weekend. The greatest coverage is currently expected on Saturday, though details remain subject to change.

The National Weather Service continues to issue updates as conditions evolve. Texans in affected areas should avoid outdoor activities during storms and stay informed through official channels and weather apps.
