Frisco mayoral candidate Mark Hill received the endorsement of the American Hindu Coalition in the final days before the city’s June 13 runoff election.
Hill faces businessman Rod Vilhauer in the runoff. The runoff was triggered after no candidate won a majority in the May mayoral election, according to the City of Frisco.
A June 4 endorsement graphic from the American Hindu Coalition said the organization “proudly endorses Mark Hill for Mayor of Frisco TX in the 2026 election.”
“We call upon Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and broader South-East Asian American communities to unite and participate in strong numbers in this important statewide election,” the group stated.
The organization praised Hill’s message of unity and collaboration.
“What resonates most with our community is his commitment to unity. Mark believes that Frisco’s greatest strength is its people and that our city’s future depends on residents, businesses, educators, and community organizations working together,” the American Hindu Coalition stated.
“His focus on collaboration, inclusion, and practical solutions reflects the spirit that has made Frisco one of America’s most desirable places to live and raise a family,” the group added.
A video posted to Hill’s Facebook page shows Hill receiving a ceremonial shawl and speaking with American Hindu Coalition representatives. In the video, a coalition representative appears to tell Hill the group’s support could help him win the runoff.
Hill thanked the group for the endorsement in the Facebook post.
“Thank you for your endorsement and recognition of my vision and leadership focused on Frisco’s values of opportunity, education, and safety for our residents,” Hill wrote.
“Frisco appreciates all you do for the American Hindu community in our great city,” he added.
Runoff Debate Continues
The endorsement comes during a runoff that has featured sharp contrasts between Hill’s “Unite Frisco” message and Vilhauer’s “Frisco First” campaign.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Hill and Vilhauer advanced to the runoff after no candidate won a majority in the May election. Hill led the four-candidate field with 8,705 votes, or 34.64%, while Vilhauer finished second with 7,895 votes, or 31.42%, according to unofficial election-night results previously reported by DX.
Hill, a local business attorney who served as Frisco ISD board president and sits on the Frisco Economic Development Corporation board, has campaigned on unity, economic development, education, and public safety.
Vilhauer, a retired construction business owner, has campaigned on transparency, traffic, responsible growth, fiscal accountability, public safety, and local control.
Questions over immigration, H-1B hiring, religious law, development, and local governance have also surfaced during the race.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Frisco has become a regional hub for H-1B visa approvals, with federal data showing several local employers among the top local petitioners from 2020 through 2025.
DX also previously reported that Vilhauer has raised concerns about Sharia law as part of his campaign message.
“Sharia is not a religion. It is a comprehensive legal and governing system that, by its own doctrine, does not recognize the supremacy of the U.S. Constitution or Texas law,” Vilhauer previously told The Dallas Express.
Criticism Online
The American Hindu Coalition endorsement also drew criticism online.
“Mark Hill is a sell out. Vote Rod Villhauer!” Amy Winkel wrote on X.
The Dallas Express reached out to Hill for comment but did not receive a response before publication.
