Each April, people worldwide are invited to participate in World Autism Awareness Day. The day is designed to spread awareness and support one-in-forty-four children and one-in-forty-five adults with Autism.

On April 2, the Autism Speaks event provided people with information, encouragement, and ideas that can lead to improved health and wellness for those with Autism.

This year marked the fifteenth celebration of World Autism Awareness Day. World Autism Awareness Day is observed by several organizations and non-profits, including Autism Speaks. According to their website, Autism Speaks celebrates the day in numerous ways.

Celebratory activities include sharing the success stories of those who have thrived with Autism and continue to live empowered and fulfilled lives.

Autism Speaks also celebrates World Autism Awareness Day by giving people educational opportunities that will allow them to learn more about and embrace those who have Autism.

While the organization has several goals, one of its key goals is to create a world where every person with Autism achieves self-actualization and superior quality of life.

People who want to show their support for World Autism Awareness Day can do so in a variety of ways, according to Autism Speaks:

  • Commit. Autism Speaks challenges everyone to commit to the promise of creating a world in which people with Autism can be the best versions of themselves. Commit to a vision of a world where acceptance and understanding are the conventional methods of interacting with, loving, and supporting autistic individuals. Supporters can sign a pledge with Autism Speaks to access tools, resources, and free data that will empower them to be active advocates in their community.
  • Invite friends, family members, students, colleagues, and others in your social network to join the Autism Speaks Kindness Campaign. This campaign encourages people to perform everyday acts of kindness toward others while at work, school, or in their neighborhood. This method promotes the creation of a world in which compassion contributes to individuals with Autism reaching their full potential.
  • Donate. Monetary contributions directly impact the quality of life for people with Autism. Numerous media channels and organizations present individuals with the option to make gifts that can significantly and positively impact the world around us. Individuals interested in donating might use social media to raise funds.

Spread kindness and awareness this World Autism Awareness Day. Every kind act or donation will help make this world a better place.
