A new restaurant is opening in Dallas that will combine food, drink, and comedy. TK’s was created by a comedic husband-wife-duo and will open at 14854 Montfort Drive in Addison on New Year’s Eve.

The couple, T.K. Matteson and Kara Kimbough, have previously been a part of the comedy scene, taking part in America’s Got Talent, Comics Unleashed, and Comedy Central.

Their goal with TK’s is to bring new life into the comedy scene by putting their spin on the comedy experience. It will improve on the typical comedy bar’s experience of a packed club “with no food and a two-drink minimum.” At TK’s, there will be an attached restaurant and bar that’s separate from the comedy stage. It will be open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

The menu was developed by Kimbrough and is described as “elevated American cuisine” with creative starters, grilled meats, seafood, and daily specials. A full bar will have a happy hour Tuesday-Friday from 3-6:00 p.m. and will include beer, wine, and cocktails.

TK’s aesthetic will be that of an underground nostalgic 1930s speakeasy that will also be available for private dining. The restaurant will bring stand-up acts and other entertainment, with a wraparound bar, comfortable dining room, outdoor patio, and personal underground space for special events.

Both owners of TK’s are originally from Texas but met in Hollywood while pursuing their careers in comedy. After 20 years of producing shows in Hollywood, they’ve come back to Texas.

“Kara and I have a passion for great comedy, incredible food, and personalized customer service, all delivered with a winning sense of humor,” Matteson said in a press release. “This is the culmination of everything we love, and we can’t wait to serve up our favorite dishes and jokes with the neighborhood.”

The grand opening will be held on New Year’s Eve with a three-course dinner, comedy show, DJ, and midnight champagne toast.
