The Dallas Zoo is inviting the 21+ crowd to party with the animals during a special adults-only event on Thursday evening.

The event, called The Dallas Zoo: Wild Canvas, will take place May 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Playing on the theme, the zoo will feature several art exhibitions, music, adult beverages, and other fun ways to experience the zoo after dark.

A silent disco will take place in the zoo tunnel with music by DJ Corona.

“This vibrant and electrifying auditory journey, paired with the stunning lights of Dallas Zoo’s iconic tunnel, is a shared sense of camaraderie,” the zoo website says.

Attendees will be invited to add their own artistic flair to the Dallas Zoo community mural in a program called Paint in the LInes.

Artists Cat Ridgon, Dora Reynosa, and Mikayla Magee from the Cedars Union will be on hand to demonstrate their techniques for painting wildlife.

At the Wild Encounters Stage, visitors can chat with zookeepers while getting up close to some of the zoo’s Ambassador Animals. Other events include a Predator Demonstration, an Elephant Food Scatter, and a Hippo Chat.

The animals at the Gregg Hudson Giants of the Savanna, Simmons Hippo Outpost, and Diane and Hal Brierley Giraffe Ridge will be staying out late for the event. Giraffe feeding will be open until 7:15 p.m.

Of course, not all zoo animals are “night owls,” so some sections of the zoo, including the Gorilla Trail and Zoo North, will be closed for the event.

The special event will feature a 360 photo booth, a carousel, a gift shop, and specialty food and beverages for attendees to enjoy. A specialty Sip and Stroll cup is available for $15 and includes one drink and $2 off refills.

Tickets are available here. Admission is $35 for the general public and $25 for zoo members. Parking at the event is $12 but is free for members.
