There is nothing that replaces walking through an animal shelter and finding that connection between you and your future companion when it comes to pet adoptions.
Due to COVID-19, Operation Kindness, the Carrollton non-profit shelter was closed to the public, only offering tele-adoptions and appointment-only adoption opportunities.
Over the summer, on July 29, Operation Kindness officially reopened to the public by hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“We’re extremely excited for the grand opening event as it’s our way of showing gratitude for the community support we’ve received through construction and the pandemic,” said Ed Jamison, CEO of Operation Kindness.
The pandemic may have halted in-person shelter visits, but the North Texas community did not allow COVID to stop their support of Operation Kindness.
In 2020, more than 2,500 adoptions were completed, 117,030 pounds of food were distributed in its pet pantry, and more than 2,200 spay and neuter surgeries were performed.
With an opportunity to greet guests in person again, the non-profit organization celebrates this exciting transition for anyone who would like to visit the shelter to adopt, foster, or volunteer.
“Operation Kindness has always been a community-driven shelter, and we’re proud of that fact,” said Jamison. “To have the opportunity to open for in-person adoptions means we not only get to see everyone again, but we will continue our journey and mission to provide animals with loving families.”
The mission of the North Texas lifesaving animal shelter is to assist animals that need medical care, companionship, and a forever home.​
In addition to pet adoptions, Operation Kindness provides comprehensive medical care for their animals, a foster program, a pet food pantry, a surrender prevention program, education to pet owners, and opportunities to volunteer.
