Uncork a bottle of wine at the newest tasting room in Fredericksburg — Invention Vineyards.

The notable Heath Family Brands made the latest addition to its growing portfolio of Texas Hill Country establishments. The company already owns several noteworthy operations, including Grape Creek Vineyards, Heath Sparkling Wines, and JenBlossom Cellars. Adding Invention Vineyards brings the company’s holdings to 60 acres of estate vineyards across the Fredericksburg area.

Still, the acquisition of Invention Vineyards — formerly Slate Mill Wine Collective — last October represents a true feather in the cap for owners Brian and Jennifer Heath. It is one of the largest properties in the area at 35 acres and boasts Texas blends with old-world varietals.

Located at 4222 S. State Hwy 16, just five minutes from downtown, visitors can stop by for tours and wine tastings daily from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“Heath Family Brands sought to pioneer the next wine journey along Highway 16. It is akin to the early days of Highway 290, an undiscovered gem brimming with potential,” said Brian Heath, announcing the grand opening last week in Wine Business.

Winemaker Jason Eglert has come on to help craft vintages such as Tempranillo, Mourvèdre, and Viognier at Invention Vineyards, showcasing the terroir’s rich diversity and adaptability, CultureMap Dallas reported.

For $30 per person, a classic wine-tasting flight can be tailored to the palate. Patrons can add a tour of the vineyard and the newly renovated production facility for $10 more.

Club members can access the outdoor patio, offering spectacular views of the property and some snacks. Membership means benefitting from exclusive perks across the Heath Family Brands holdings, including access to restaurants and lounges, special events, pre-release vintages, and discounts.

For Dallas-Fort Worth residents with no upcoming trips to the Texas Hill Country in the cards, do not fret.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Fredericksburg’s Barons Creek Vineyards is opening a tasting room in Dallas’ vibrant Bishop Arts District this October.

The location at 418 N. Bishop Ave. will be the second in the metroplex, with one already nestled in McKinney’s historic downtown area since 2022.
