Local restaurant group Duro Hospitality has opened a new luxury restaurant and bar concept in downtown Dallas.

The Mister Charles concept features an iconoclastic design, an open kitchen, high ceilings, and a globally-inspired menu with French and Italian dishes, classic cocktails, and rare wines.

As part of the group’s comprehensive selection of wines, Duro Hospitality offers rare labels from France, Italy, Spain, Napa Valley, and Sonoma, in addition to limited production bottlings, rare vintages, and extensive sparkling options, Dallas Culture Map reported.

Located in the former Highland Park Soda Fountain building on the corner of Knox and Travis Streets in Dallas, Mister Charles is one of the group’s most ambitious projects for the area to date.

In 2018, Duro Hospitality opened its first restaurant project called The Charles. After only a year in Dallas’ Design District, The Charles quickly became a local favorite, winning Best Restaurant of the Year in Culture Map’s 2020 Tastemaker Awards.

Now, the restaurant group is trying to replicate that success with its new concept, named in honor of Duro Hospitality co-founder Chas Martin.

“Mister Charles is our most exuberant, ambitious, and high-energy restaurant to date, and we are excited to share it with our neighbors and visitors to our wonderful city,” said Martin.

“We believe that when guests dine out, they want to be transported out of their daily lives and routines. Our culinary and bar teams have pulled out all stops to create a joyous, multi-sensory experience that will create soulful and unforgettable memories for guests,” he said in a statement.

The Mr. Charles menu describes its offerings as an “irreverent play on the classics.” Some of the signature dishes include:

  • Egg Salad Sandwich & Caviar ($9)
  • Cured Salmon Tart with Crème Fraiche ($8)
  • Oysters with Green Tomato Mignonette ($6)
  • A5 Striploin with Brioche, Wasabi ($14)
  • Beef Carpaccio with Horseradish, Calabrian Chili ($26)
  • Crab Cake Vadouvan with Avocado, Jalapeño ($32)
  • Little Gem Caesar with Anchovy Caper Vinaigrette ($18)
  • Truffle Duck Berlingot with Artichoke, Tomato ($38)
  • Lobster Thermidor with Calabrian Tarragon Butter ($86)
  • Japanese A5 Striploin ($36/oz).
