The Deep Ellum Art Co. is hosting an exhibit called “Music in Frames: A Thousand Words of Sound,” featuring photos from local concerts.

The Commerce Street establishment will feature photographs taken from local stages and, in some cases, featuring local artists like Post Malone, The Toadies, and Erykah Badu. Andrew Sherman, photographer and curator for the exhibit, told NBC 5 DFW he gathered “some of the best photographers that I know in town and put this show together.”

The Deep Ellum Art Co., founded by John and Kari LaRue, is a bastion for the creative, hosting live music seven days a week, maintaining a gallery stocked with local pieces, and even hosting art classes.

With the latest exhibit, visitors to the venue will see work from an eclectic range of music genres captured by five photographers, Mike Brooks, Vera ‘Velma’ Hernandez, Carly May Gravley, Madison Raney, as well as Sherman himself.

“If you go to this side of the wall it’s the Stones…it’s AC/DC… Then you go to the other side, Carly May, and it’s like a who’s who of pop stars,” Sherman said, describing the diversity of genres, per NBC 5.

The event will allow concert photographers to see their work in print, rather than “just on Instagram,” as is often the case, said Sherman.

“A concert is, it’s a wild beast,” Sherman said, per NBC 5. “Everybody sounds great in my photos, and I feel that’s true for all of us.”

Sherman insists Dallas is filled with “incredible” talent.

“We have an amazing scene here. The byproduct is we have an amazing group of photographers here.”

Music in Frames runs through late February.

A selection of photos from the exhibit is available for purchase online.
