The Dallas-based nonprofit American Can! Cars for Kids has been recognized as one of the 2022 Top-Rated Nonprofits using GreatNonprofits, according to a press release.

The nonprofit’s stated purpose is to help kids succeed by harnessing donated cars which it leverages for charity.

Cars for Kids has been around for 25 years and takes in many different kinds of trucks and cars, including SUVs, vans, motorcycles, ATVs, RVs, boats, and others.

Cars for Kids donates 100% of its proceeds to fund programs that help kids from different backgrounds succeed in education and receive assistance with mental health services, food aid, and housing.

“We are honored to be recognized by Great Nonprofits for our work in creating an inclusive pathway to success for all kids by giving them resources needed for kids to grow and be empowered to work toward a better future,”  Cars for Kids CEO Colin Weatherwax said in a press release. “We look forward to continuing to fund the education and tools needed for today’s kids to become who they are meant to be.”

GreatNonprofits is an organization that seeks to bring together voices on their experiences dealing with various charities and nonprofits. It claims it is the largest website for donating to nonprofits.

“Cars for Kids is a great example of a nonprofit making a real difference in their community,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work, but the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with Cars for Kids.”

Besides Texas, Cars for Kids is in eight other states, including California, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and Washington. It also has a location in Washington, D.C.
