The largest drone show ever held in Texas was seen in Dallas Fort Worth, on December 18, breaking the previous record set by Intel in 2020.

The show from Sky Elements, a drone company based in North Texas, featured 1,001 drones, WFAA reported. The free event was held at 9200 Mid Cities Blvd. and was part of the North Richland Hills (NRH) Toy Drive. Guests were asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy.

Pre-registering was required for the show.

Sky Elements is two years old, Dallas Innovates reported, and travels around the country putting on drone shows.

Tyler Johnson, the company’s tech lead, shared that the shows are about storytelling.

“The team uses tech to tell stories in a way it’s never been done,” Johnson told Dallas Innovates.

He added that one comment they receive often is, “Wow. I didn’t expect it to be so large.”

Johnson works for Sky Elements as an automation expert and drone technology engineer. He is also in charge of logistical elements.

The NRH Toy Drive benefits students at Birdville ISD, according to the North Richland Hills website. Donations were accepted until December 20. The drive is held by the NRH Santa Cops and NRH Firefighters Association.

“Donated toys will be delivered by Santa Cops to children in need who attend Birdville ISD and food donations will go to the Community Enrichment Center’s Food Pantry,” according to the NRH website.

Sky Elements will return to Texas on December 31 for a New Year’s Eve show in Dallas, as reported by The Dallas Express. The show will take place at Reunion Tower, according to the website, which is hosting a New Year’s event for the seventh year.

“The fireworks spectacular will benefit Children’s Health via the Reunion Tower NYE Foundation again this year,” according to the website. “Established in 2020, the foundation supports and showcases a local North Texas nonprofit organization each year in the weeks leading up [to] New Year’s Eve and culminating through the fireworks spectacular.

“Reunion Tower Over The Top NYE is the only 360-degree, panoramic fireworks spectacular in the Central time zone and will light up the Dallas sky starting at 11:59 p.m. [CST] on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022.”

Sky Elements will be putting on New Year’s Eve shows across the country in Nevada, California, Florida, and Hawaii.
