Several Dallas food establishments recently failed to meet the city’s food safety standards, raising concerns about sanitation and employee practices.
City of Dallas – Code Compliance Services: Consumer Health Division reports show that Save Way Food Store, Cowboy Chicken at 17437 Preston Road, Rosis LLC, Senda Del Sabor, and Royal Chopstix scored between 70 and 77 on routine inspections conducted in early December.
Save Way Food Store, located at 1562 East Ann Arbor Avenue, earned a score of 70 on December 8, 2025, the lowest among the reviewed establishments. Inspectors cited multiple alleged violations, including improper food storage of raw eggs and meat sandwich items, failure to sanitize ice machines and prep coolers, inadequate employee handwashing, and the presence of dead roaches throughout the store.
Additional infractions included missing food thermometers, a lack of working soap and paper towels in restrooms, and poorly maintained physical facilities. The Dallas Express reached out to Save Way Food Store for comment, but the business’s corporate office did not respond.
Other establishments showed similar issues.
Cowboy Chicken at 17437 Preston Road scored 70, Rosis LLC at 313 West Jefferson Boulevard scored 71, Senda Del Sabor at 10118 Garland Road scored 76, and Royal Chopstix at 9625 Webb Chapel Road scored 77.
Under Dallas inspection rules, scores from 79 to 70 are considered “passing” but require re-inspection within 30 days, while scores of 69 to 60 trigger a follow-up inspection within 10 days or potential closure.
Health inspections are ongoing, but only results as far back as December 4, 2025, were available when this story was compiled.
