Health and wellness franchise concept Beem Light Sauna plans to open in Highland Village this spring, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

The project includes the interior finish-out of a 1,857-square-foot space at The District of Highland Village on Justin Road. It has an estimated $475,000 construction cost and an anticipated delivery date of March 30.

Beem Light Sauna was founded in 2021 in North Carolina and currently operates five stores. However, it has ambitious plans to expand its operations to over 300 franchise locations across the Sun Belt by 2025.

As many as 74 new locations are already in the works in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Texas. In fact, the Lone Star State will eventually be welcoming new light therapy studios in Plano, Austin, Addison, Prosper, Fort Worth, Flower Mound, Rockwall, Frisco, and McKinney.

The concept uses infrared and red light therapy to remove toxins, reduce pain, boost immunity, reduce stress, and provide other benefits, according to the company’s website.

It can reportedly help jump-start the metabolism, with one study conducted on mice showing that the group receiving regular infrared sauna sessions had the same amount of weight loss — 40% of their total body fat — as another group having to run on treadmills.

Effective weight loss methods have been at the forefront of conversations about public health, with obesity rates surging across the United States, as extensively covered by The Dallas Express.

Beem Light Sauna says it also uses chromotherapy sessions to strengthen clients’ overall well-being by calming anxiety, lowering cortisol, and alleviating depression.

“The world we live in is constantly changing and adapting,” the website reads. “As our understanding of physical and mental health grows, so does the need for people to take better care of themselves.”

Cynthia May, president and co-founder of the company, expressed excitement at being able to bring the innovative treatment to more people through its southern franchise expansion.

“Our growth journey throughout the Sun Belt is a testament to Beem’s mission of introducing the benefits of holistic light therapy to individuals throughout the U.S.” said May, according to a press release.

“I’m ecstatic at the growth we have seen so far and excited to continue bringing the healing power of light to even more cities throughout the country,” she added.
